A photo for free

Has he gone mad?

The website is not intended as a jewel to be gazed at but a tool to be used. Let me invite you to stroll about the website to experience the ease of use. To make the invitation even more attractive, I am giving away one photograph to each of my clients. The size of the picture does not matter - it can be a cover shot - as long as it was found on the site. This offer is valid during spring. In this period lots of new material will be added to the site, so the frequent visitor in the coming months is sure to find a good pic(k).

The website is online!

The time has come: my website is now officially online in English and Dutch. The Italian and French versions will follow in August and October respectively, and the German in 2006. It will make it easy for you to find the right travel feature for your magazine, or to track down the right image to go with a specific article.  The url www.paulsmit.biz showed content previously also, but that was primarily for my own use and testing purposes. As of today the site is for you, the editor.

Features, photographs and information can be accessed using various methods. You can find out how in the section tips for website use.

Magda Talamini will translate features into Italian

Today Magda Talamini from Milano took the job of translating the articles in Italian, in preparation of my promotional attack on the Italian magazine market. Being Italian born and educated in Holland and Italy she is 'native' in both languages.

That also is the case with the other translators: Elise Reynolds (USA born, educated in England, living in Amsterdam), Erica Cabos (French born, grew up in Holland before returning to France) and Britta Smit (lived 14 years in Holland before returning to Germany). And they all have the right 'journalistic touch' for the job.

I feel spoiled to be in such good company and hope together we will push the quality of the features.

Website launch scheduled for March 2005

In 2003/2004 I made the first steps as a webmaster. Lots of try and error was needed before I could call the website structure functional and usable. That moment is nearing and the official launch is scheduled for March 2005, in English and Dutch language to start with.

The intention of my website is to give feature and picture editors an impression of my work and make it possible to view and find individual features and photos.

Creating the website caused the reorganisation of my stock. It is 'cleaned' by dumping the outdated slides. By applying my current quality standard to the older material it thins out even more. The information on the slide frames is upgraded, in harmony with the captions on the site.

Overlooking it all the website has caused a wave of improvements concerning the slides, the texts and the overall organisation of my business.
